This landscape project presented us some extra challenges including fitting our new project inside an existing fixed space. There were existing retaining walls around much of the new patio so we had to plan ahead for our pattern to work out to full stones. Also, once we began construction on the flatwork and excavated we unearthed an old concrete block footing that had to be removed to ensure the integrity of the new build. We removed an old set of failing block steps and some underground conduit before any new construction began.
After working through the kinks our landscape technicians set the patio up for a 2.5% grade to shed water during rain and installed the base with some new electrical conduit. We finished off the patio with a custom in-lay paver design at the entry door to the house and a double paver border. The new patio connected right to a small decorative pond water feature and the surrounding retaining walls filled with shrubs and perennials. This new landscape is simply beautiful and a true serene backyard retreat.
